NEW Viscometer – byko-visc CP

The byko-visc CP Cone and Plate viscometer allows for the precise determination of the absolute viscosity of materials using minimal sample sizes. It can measure and predict the performance of your samples closer to the conditions in your manufacturing or application process such as spreading of paint on a wall or flowing of a polymer melt inside a pipe.

First Generation PELT Gauges are Ready for Retirement

Since its introduction in 2001, the µP301 and 501 series PELT gauges have revolutionized film thickness measurement by providing multi-layer film thickness data – non-destructive and with highest precision using innovative ultrasound technology. The production of the PELT models: µP301, µP301HE, µP501, µP501A and µP502 were discontinued in 2015. Since most components are now obsolete, we would like to inform you that we can no longer guarantee repairs or recertification services.

Its successors, the BYK-PELT 3 and BYK-PELT 5 series, are smaller and faster and work with our new high-frequency BYK transducer technology. Now, you can reliably measure ultra-thin layers down to 5 µm, and their higher sensitivity makes low contrasting film layers easier to discern. All the new BYK-PELT gauges are compatible with smart-chart software to facilitate data analysis with SPC control charts.

Color Development and Color Control at Suzuki

Color harmony is a challenging task. When developing a new color, new tolerances need to be established which should correlate with our visual perception. Suzuki and BYK-Gardner developed together a new color and effect system consisting of a new ΔESuzuki equation for multi-angle color change and ΔS equation to evaluate the influence of sparkle and graininess. The BYK-mac i with the new Suzuki color and effect system is the instrument of choice used to control color harmony at Suzuki and their suppliers.

Dr. Sebastian Wagner – Product Manager Physical Test

Dr. Sebastian Wagner joined our BYK-Gardner family in April 2024 and just a year later, he introduced his first "baby": The byko-visc CP.

As a PhD chemist, he not only has a passion for sophisticated analysis, but his eye for quality and detail also shines through in his love for fine cuisine. Sebastian creates dishes that could easily come from top gourmet hotspots.
We are thrilled to have him on our team and look forward to many exciting projects together.
